Capital, Estates and Facilities

Our Capital, Estates & Facilities (CEF) directorate keeps our Trust’s buildings safe, efficient and welcoming for patients, staff and visitors. Across Greater Manchester, our 300‑strong CEF team serves 100+ buildings. Whether in engineering, gardening, catering, cleaning or portering, every role makes a difference to patient care. We co-ordinate the Trust’s building projects, maintenance and day-to-day services so that environments run smoothly, efficiently and sustainably. Our goal is to provide safe, effective, high-quality care environments for everyone. This means planning and delivering capital improvements, managing our property portfolio, maintaining estates infrastructure, and running essential facilities, all while minimising our environmental impact. Our management team is based at Harrop House in Prestwich, and we support services Trust‑wide across the North West.

We believe working here is rewarding and supportive. In NHS estates and facilities roles you’ll have countless opportunities to progress through on‑the‑job training and development. Our organisation is committed to career growth, and we provide support to help you expand your skills and knowledge. From day one, you’ll join a team that values work–life balance and offers generous NHS benefits (competitive pay, pension and leave) so you can focus on making an impact.

Working in Capital, Estates and Facilities at GMMH is a chance to build a meaningful career. You’ll learn valuable technical and management skills, enjoy strong teamwork, and see first-hand how your work improves people’s experience of care. We’re proud to support all our staff with training and growth opportunities, and to know that a behind-the-scenes role in CEF truly powers our frontline care.
