Mental health liaison

A Mental Health Liaison Service is based in your local Hopsital. We assess people aged 16 and over who are inpatients, in Intermediate Care, or have presented in the Emergency Department and are experiencing problems with their mental health. Our team of mental health practitioners and psychiatrists cover the hospital 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.

If you have attended the emergency department the triage nurse will ask you some questions to establish the best way to help you. We will allow you time to talk about your current situation and needs. By listening to you, we hope to complete a full assessment and together create a action plan to help you. It is important that you give us as much information as possible.

We will write to your GP detailing the assessment and plan. We may also, with your consent, ask your family members or friends for their views.
