Busting myths for Healthcare Science Week

Not all healthcare research takes place in a laboratory.

Healthcare science week takes place from 6-15 March. It is an annual celebration to raise awareness of the many careers in healthcare science.

In honour of Healthcare Science Week, we at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust focused on debunking five common myths about mental health Research.

Each day, from 9th - 13th March, we tackled one myth, hearing from members of staff from across the Trust who are working in Research, alongside our partners at The University of Manchester and the National Institute for Health Research.

Our aim was that, through empowering our members of staff and Research partners to celebrate their profession, we would inspire the Research workforce of the future, and offer people in the community the chance to learn about what our Researchers do and the vital role they play in patient care and treatment.

We would like to say a huge thank you to those who contributed towards the myth-busting, and everyone who engaged with us across the week.

You can find the full set of myths that we busted below. And if you’d like to find out more about Research at GMMH, visit our Research and Innovation Hub.
