Psychological Therapies within Community Mental Health Services

Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) within the NHS play a vital role in delivering mental health care to adults and older adults with complex or severe mental health needs.

CMHTs are multidisciplinary teams, typically including psychiatrists, clinical/counselling psychologists, mental health nurses and other practitioners, who work together to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and ongoing support in the community.

CMHTs offer a range of evidence-based psychological therapies tailored to individual needs. Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is working to improve the availability of recommended psychological therapies across the region.

Further details on some of the specific psychological therapies provided by CMHTs are outlined below. Different CMHTs may offer additional approaches or models of therapy. Please discuss the options available in your area with your mental health practitioner. People living in our boroughs can find out more about their local CMHT here
