Recovery

The aim of this one day course is to increase participant’s knowledge of Recovery, including: concepts and definitions of recovery; key guidance; the importance of recovery capital; the importance of a whole system approach and working effectively in partnership; Asset Based Community Development; the role of Recovery Champions; and, the role of Mutual Aid (peer support) and Recovery Networks.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to

  • explain what the term Recovery means in the context of substance misuse
  • explain the importance of Recovery Capital in substance misuse
  • outline key aspects of Recovery oriented working practice
  • illustrate the importance of partnership working in Recovery

Who is this course for?

The course is designed for anyone who has an interest, volunteers or works in a health or social care setting; and, who comes into contact with people who are experiencing problematic substance misuse or who are, themselves, in recovery.
