Sense-Cog Research Project

The SENSE-Cog project is validating assessments for hearing, vision and memory. Often, the tasks we use for measuring memory require people to hear and see things well. However, as we age, the likelihood of developing problems with hearing and vision increases, meaning that these memory tasks don’t always accurately reflect the ability of the person. We have developed some measures to try and overcome this problem and this study will evaluate how well the measures perform.

It is locally coordinated from The University of Manchester and entails a short, one-off home visit.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are aged over 60 with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or Vascular Dementia
  • Have hearing or eyesight problems (or suspect they do)
  • Live at home rather than in a care home or nursing home
  • Have a family member or friend who is also willing to take part

We are recruiting people living in Greater Manchester. If you are interested to know more, please get in touch with Saima or Zoë at the University of Manchester:
