NHS 111 collaboration between GMMH and Mersey Care

A group of six people stand in a row inside a room with light coloured walls and glass partitions. Four individuals are wearing clinical uniforms and two are dressed in non clinical clothing. Empty chairs and a table are visible in the foreground.

On Wednesday 11 March 2026, our NHS 111 leaders, Lily Lomas and Amaebi Olajubu welcomed colleagues from Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, including fellow 111 practitioners, operational leaders, and service managers, for a focused best practice exchange visit to our Greater Manchester NHS 111 Mental Health hub at Central Park.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration between our two organisations, share innovations in mental health urgent care, and explore opportunities for joint improvement as both services continue to grow.

The Mersey Care team walked around our Central Park site, and were very impressed with our lovely facilities, observed our call handling environment, and spent time with our clinical leads and practitioners to understand how GMMH has rapidly developed and scaled the 111 Mental Health service. Conversations centred on service model design, workforce development, quality oversight, digital systems, and approaches to crisis care.

We quickly realised that both organisations are committed to delivering safe, responsive, and compassionate mental health support. By learning from each other’s experiences, we strengthen our collective ability to support people in crisis, improve workforce sustainability, and enhance the quality of care across the North West.

The visit has sparked plans for ongoing knowledge sharing, including potential reciprocal visits, joint development sessions, and further collaboration around staff training and quality improvement.

This was a positive opportunity to showcase the fantastic work underway within our 111 Mental Health service and to continue building strong regional partnerships that ultimately benefit the people we serve.
