Living Wage Week 2019

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by over 5,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a fair day's pay for a hard day's work. For more information on the Living Wage Foundation, visit the website here.

Our Deputy Chief Executive and Director of HR and Corporate Affairs Andrew Maloney writes;

"Whilst it can be a challenge, being a Living Wage Employer is the right thing to do – especially for a mental health trust.  Working in this field is extremely rewarding, but it can be difficult at times.  Some of our service users are very ill when they come to us and need highly intensive and supportive care. Our staff are our greatest asset and the Trust simply could not operate without the dedication of our domestic staff, healthcare support workers, porters and administrative roles.

Being a Living Wage Employer means we truly reflect our values, especially in terms of working together, and valuing and respecting one another.  We are showing how much we appreciate the fantastic job our staff do at an individual level.  Through our work with people with mental health or substance misuse issues, financial difficulties often feature heavily in their stories and we know how, in this very uncertain climate, money worries are triggers for anxiety and depression.  Therefore, we want to do all we can to help our staff have a decent standard of life for themselves and those they provide for.”
