Putting service users at the heart of our care

Work is ongoing following research published last year, which was carried out with 200 women who had spent time in secure services.  It showed that outcomes were much more improved if they stayed in one location, as opposed to moving round medium and low secure environments.

It also showed that by staying with the same clinical team, therapeutic relationships are maintained, which are vital to services users feeling safe, supported and engaged in their treatment.

Therefore we are planning to move all women to the Edenfield Centre (apart from those at Wentworth House). This will also involve moving our male service users to Rockley House and Loweswater.

Here is a quick round up of the latest moves:

  • Service users from the Loweswater Unit have moved into Kingsley Ward (located where Trust Headquarters used to be) in April 2019
  • Service users and staff members have transferred from Rockley House to Derwent Ward on 29 May 2019.
  • 12 male service users have transferred out of Edenfield Centre to occupy Loweswater Ward on 3 and 4 June 2019.
