International Trials Day - Cognetivity

Cognitively Website

This study is trialing an Integrated Cognitive Assessment (ICA) test. This is a five minute computerized test, which we hope will help identify if people have issues like Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer’s Dementia (AD).

The study aims at exploring the ICA test’s ability to identify changes in one’s thinking skills in working-age and older adults, in an easy and quick manner. We hope that use of the ICA will improve the detection and monitoring of cognitive impairment.

This should allow for better-tailored management of cognitive impairment and better outcomes for people.

We are looking for people with MCI or AD, 55 years old or older, who have received their diagnosis within 12 months.

Biogen

Embark is a phase 3 clinical trial, and is evaluating the long-term safety and efficacy of aducanumab (BIIB037), an investigational therapy for Alzheimer’s disease in patients who took part in its previous clinical studies. It is designed to remove toxic clumps of amyloid protein found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients, which are believed to drive the disease.

Previously in the Engage trial, our participants were randomized to placebo or treatment. In Embark, all participants receive a high dose of aducanumab. Participants will receive an intraveneous (IV) infusion every 4 weeks for 24 months.

It will look at whether the study drug works; how it affects thinking, memory and daily activities; and the effects on biomarkers. Biogen are currently seeking FDA approval for aducanumab, and a decision is expected in June 2021.
