Calling all Recovery Academy Students!

During lockdown and while we remain unable to meet each face to face, we want to do all we can to support you to access as much as you can online.  We appreciate this requires resources such as laptops which are expensive.  Nevertheless, we do not want this current situation to hold back the fantastic work you were doing in maximising your potential to access courses and resources.

The Prince’s Trust Development Awards small, fast-access grants to support those aged 16-30 to progress into Education, Training or Employment. These development awards can help to cover the cost of course fees, tools or equipment to help you achieve your goals. They offer up to £250 per young person, and up to £500 if that young person is a care leaver.

Computing Equipment Offer:

If you are struggling to access online courses online as you do not currently have a computer at home, the Prince’s Trust are offering to provide a grant for tablets and laptops to support you in engaging in education, courses and training.

If you are currently in education and struggling to access your education online due to lack of equipment as a result of education moving online, they can also support you with a grant for a laptop/tablet to continue your engagement.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • Aged 16-30, not in Education, Training or Employment and need support getting into programmes offered by The Prince’s Trust
  • Or, aged 16-30, part of a ‘specialist group’ and require computing equipment for education/a course you have already enrolled on, or looking to enrol on.

Interim Wi-Fi Offer:

If you are aged 16-30, the Prince’s Trust are offering to provide a grant for pre-paid Wi-Fi dongles, so you can continue to access your education and your support networks throughout Covid-19, without impacting your phone’s data limit.

If you do not have Wi-Fi at home or are struggling with your current allowance to reach out to others when you’re in need of support, they can provide these dongles directly to your home address and provide top-ups on a monthly basis when required.

The Prince’s Trust Development Awards can also be to support other things such as:

  • Course materials, such as books, equipment etc
  • SIA Cards
  • Funding for courses
  • ID, such as passports or driving licenses
  • Travel cards
  • Clothing for work or interviews

To be eligible, you must be:

  • Aged 16-30 and living in the UK
  • Studying less than 14 hours a week or not in compulsory education
  • Unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week
