RESIN logo

The RESIN (Race Equality Staff Integrated Network) at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is a staff-led initiative focused on empowering colleagues from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. We offer a supportive and inclusive platform where staff can connect, share experiences and contribute to shaping a more equitable workplace culture.

We encourage broad participation, aiming to represent the diverse GMMH workforce. Our steering group leads various workstreams that support staff wellbeing, influence Trust policy and promotes racial equality across the organisation.

RESIN's Objectives

Our key objectives are:

  • Empowering staff from an ethnically diverse background to achieve their potential through creating positive change

  • The network is a source of support for new and existing ethnically diverse employees on career pathways and development of opportunities GMMH wide

  • The network should assist GMMH to meet strategic objectives to improve patient experience and staff experience by best utilising the skills and resources from individuals from an ethnically diverse background to add value to the organisation

RESIN's Priorities

Our priorities include:

  • Achieving a membership of at least 10% of GMMH ethnically diverse staff figures

  • Systemically working through the networks 3-year action plan

  • The action plan will be reviewed and updated on a yearly basis by the network steering group

  • Improved representation of ethnically diverse staff in junior, middle and senior leadership in the organisation by at least 10%

  • Reducing the incidents of ethnically diverse staff going through the disciplinary process

  • Increased awareness in the organisation of race equality related issues

RESIN Membership

Membership is open to all permanent and temporary Trust staff.

We aim to have membership of at least 10% of the GMMH ethnically diverse background workforce, ensuring we have members evenly distributed across all the districts.

Employees can attend subject to service requirements and agreement by their line manager, however, managers are encouraged to facilitate this whenever possible. The network will also be open to colleagues who have a role in supporting the work environment of staff from an ethnically diverse background. It is expected that the majority of the membership will be made up of staff who identify themselves to be from an ethnically diverse background.
