Leading Transformation and Change in CYP Mental Health Services - Continued Professional Development (CPD):

The formal aims of the programme are as follows:

• To develop competency in leading service change to deliver evidence based, quality driven, outcomes informed services
• To have critical knowledge of the theoretical, research and implementation literature that underpins such service change
• To lead necessary changes in your services.

The objectives of the CYP Psychological Trainings Curriculum are that at the end of the programme Service Leads will:

• Understand the CYP Psychological Trainings project
• Understand the importance of key-pivotal elements that they will be responsible for knitting together in transforming their services
• Know how to bring about the changes necessary to implement these key elements
• Have demonstrated implementation of the identified key elements in the CYP Psychological Trainings project in their own services
• Understand how to maintain changes and have developed the necessary skills and competencies to ensure sustainable transformation.
• Have the knowledge of a range of resources and tools to support identified service transformation changes in accordance with key elements as prioritised by the CYP Psychological Trainings Programme

The programme also aims to support the following Qualities and Capabilities for CAMHS leaders (incorporating the CAMHS leadership qualities and capabilities framework):

• Demonstrating personal qualities and leadership
• Setting direction
• Working with others         
• Delivering the service

Eligible applicants will be working within Northwest CYP Psychological Trainings Collaborative. Recruitment is a joint process with collaborative partners and will be existing managers, leads and CYP service commissioners and will be highly experienced managers working within CYP mental health.

Applications sent directly to the training centre by the applicant will not be able to be accepted.

The Northwest Children and Young Peoples (CYP) Psychological Trainings Collaborative is a partnership between The University of Manchester, Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust and over 70 providers and commissioning bodies of CYP mental health services across NHS, Local Authority and Voluntary sectors working in the Northwest, Northeast & Yorkshire and the West Midlands.

The collaborative seeks to improve services through better evidence-based practice, better collaborative practice, authentic participation and better use of feedback and clinical outcomes for CYP across all services.

There are ten Partnerships in the Northwest who scope and fill the training places in their areas, with oversight from the Integrated Care Boards. Partnerships Leads are the key contact for all services working with CYP who have or wish to have trainees on our programmes. The contacts by area are:

The programme curriculum will be delivered in mixed format of formal teaching, experiential learning, masterclasses, action learning, peer discussion groups and reflective learning.

Knowledge, facts, theories, approaches to problems and solutions will be taught and trainees will be encouraged to plan a service transformation project and keep a reflective portfolio.

Application forms are sent to the CYP Psychological Trainings Service Leads within Children & Young People’s services across the Northwest Collaborative between May to August time (approx.).  Completed application forms must be approved by the Service Manager and the CYP Psychological Trainings Lead, who will be responsible for sending them back to the Training Centre.
