Come teach with our Recovery Academy
We are currently seeking applications from people with experience of mental health and/or alcohol and drug problems to join our Recovery Academy as course facilitators.
We are looking to appoint two people to become course facilitators for either our Living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder course or our Faith and Recovery course. You will be paid for your time and we will cover any travel expenses. The rate of pay is £10 per hour.
The Recovery Academy is open to current and former users of GMMH’s services and their families, friends and carers as well as health care professionals and provides a range of free courses.
All our courses aim to equip students with the skills needed to be able to manage and promote recovery and wellbeing as well as providing opportunities to gain an understanding of mental health challenges.
We are looking for applications from people with experience of either course topic, either directly themselves or indirectly as a carer, friend or family member, who will feel comfortable delivering their chosen course alongside mental health professionals with an expertise in the area.
All of our Recovery Academy courses are co-written and co-delivered by professionals and people with mental health or substance misuse problems, which means that our courses are enriched by professional expertise and lived experience.
We will provide co-facilitator training prior to you starting as well as ongoing one to one support, supervision, annual appraisal and personal development planning.
The first Living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder course takes place on the 10 May in Bolton and the first Faith and Recovery course takes place on the 2 June in Prestwich. People who are applying to become a course facilitator will need to be available on the dates either course is running from May to September 2016.
To apply, please get in contact with us to let us know why you would like to take part (expression of interest). The closing date for expressions of interest from people who want to apply for the roles is 5pm on Tuesday 19 April 2016.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss the role further, please contact Claire Watson, Recovery Academy Lead, email: claire.watson@gmmh.nhs.uk or Tel: 0161 358 1771.
