Professor David Veale, Consultant Psychiatrist in CBT at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Visiting Professor at King’s College London

Professor David Veale is an internationally recognised authority in cognitive behavioural therapy, specialising in body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and health anxiety. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed papers and multiple books, contributed to NICE guidance and ICD-11 revisions, and lectures internationally.

A Fellow of both the British Psychological Society and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and Honorary Fellow of BABCP, Professor Veale combines clinical innovation with rigorous research and highly practical teaching.


Professor Ken Laidlaw, Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter and Director of Postgraduate Research (CEDAR)

Professor Ken Laidlaw is a leading international expert in CBT for older adults. His work has been central to developing age-sensitive CBT models and challenging misconceptions about ageing and psychological therapy.

He led the first UK RCT of CBT for late-life depression and conducted pioneering research in late-life anxiety. He trained with Professor Aaron T. Beck and continues to deliver keynote lectures internationally.


Professor David Clark, Professor of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and an international leader in CBT for anxiety disorders

Professor David Clark is a world-leading authority on CBT for panic disorder and social anxiety. His cognitive models and treatment protocols have transformed psychological therapy internationally and underpin NICE-recommended approaches within NHS services.

His work has shaped IAPT service delivery and significantly improved recovery rates for anxiety disorders across the UK.


Professor Paul Salkovskis, Professor of Clinical Psychology and an international authority in CBT for Anxiety and OCD

Professor Paul Salkovskis is one of the founding architects of contemporary cognitive models of OCD, health anxiety and panic disorder. His work has shaped international treatment guidelines and specialist CBT services across the NHS.

He has held senior roles at King’s College London, the University of Bath and the University of Oxford, and has trained generations of CBT clinicians and researchers.


Dr Anne Garland, Consultant Psychotherapist at the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham

Dr Anne Garland is a nationally recognised expert in persistent and treatment-resistant depression. She established the Nottingham Specialist Depression Service following a major RCT evaluating NICE-recommended treatments and has been central to CBT training development in the UK.


Kathryn Reeveley-King, Principal Psychotherapist and Clinical Lead at the Nottingham Specialist Depression and Bipolar Service

Kathryn Reeveley-King is a specialist in complex depression and bipolar disorder, leading implementation of CBT and psychoeducation services across NHS trusts and delivering international CBT teaching.


Dr Ashley Tiplady, Clinical Psychologist and CBT Educator and Workforce Development Lead, and Dr Layla Mofrad, Senior Psychological Therapist and Accredited CBT Therapist

Dr Tiplady and Dr Mofrad specialise in intolerance of uncertainty and evidence-based CBT for anxiety disorders across NHS services and training contexts.


Dr Kevin Meares, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Specialist in Anxiety and Trauma

Dr Kevin Meares is an experienced CBT clinician specialising in PTSD, trauma and complex anxiety disorders.

He co-authored Overcoming Worry and Generalised Anxiety Disorder and regularly delivers national and international workshops.

Masterclass events

CBT for Panic Disorder

This masterclass will examine the cognitive model of panic disorder and its application in treatment. Professor Clark will explore catastrophic misinterpretation, safety behaviours, interoceptive exposure, and behavioural experiments. Emphasis will be placed on precision formulation and optimising outcomes in routine clinical practice.

CBT for Social Anxiety

Focusing on the Clark and Wells model of social anxiety, this masterclass will cover self-focused attention, safety behaviours, video feedback, behavioural experiments and belief modification. Professor Clark will demonstrate how to structure effective, formulation-driven interventions that produce robust and lasting change.

CBT for Health Anxiety

This masterclass will revisit the cognitive model of health anxiety, focusing on responsibility beliefs, misinterpretation of bodily sensations, reassurance-seeking and safety behaviours. Professor Salkovskis will demonstrate collaborative empiricism and behavioural experiments central to effective treatment.

CBT for OCD

This session will explore the cognitive model of OCD, with focus on responsibility, threat misinterpretation, and behavioural experiments within exposure and response prevention. The workshop will integrate theory with practical clinical strategies for complex and entrenched OCD presentations.

CBT for Acute Depression

Delivered jointly by Dr Garland and Kathryn Reeveley-King, this masterclass will focus on CBT for acute depression. The session will cover formulation-driven treatment, cognitive restructuring, relapse prevention and managing complexity in early-phase treatment. The workshop will integrate research evidence with practical tools for routine clinical care.

CBT for PTSD

This masterclass will provide a structured overview of CBT approaches to PTSD, including trauma-focused formulation, memory processing, cognitive restructuring and behavioural interventions. Dr Meares will address common therapeutic challenges and strategies for working with complex trauma presentations.

CBT for Generalised Anxiety Disorder — Making Friends with Uncertainty

This masterclass will explore intolerance of uncertainty, worry and GAD. The session will cover cognitive restructuring, exposure to uncertainty, behavioural experiments and group-based approaches. Practical strategies will support clinicians in embedding these techniques confidently in practice.
