We are thrilled to announce that our Capital, Estates and Facilities (CEF) Team has been shortlisted for Team of the Year at this year’s HEFMA Awards!

This shortlisting recognises the pivotal role the team plays in supporting safe, high‑quality mental health care across the Trust footprint, delivering both effective day‑to‑day operational services and large‑scale strategic improvement initiatives.

Over the past year, many of the team’s projects have delivered direct benefits for our service users, colleagues and visitors. These range from improvements in patient safety monitoring to green initiatives such as the installation of energy‑efficient LED lighting and the rollout of an all‑electric vehicle fleet. The Green Fleet programme is currently ahead of its 2030 target, with 96% of Trust vehicles now electric. The team has also delivered key staff improvements, including car parking upgrades and the reopening of the Prestwich site restaurant at The Waterdale.

On being shortlisted for the award, Marc Reed, Director of Capital, Estates and Facilities, said:

“I’m delighted that CEF has been shortlisted for HEFMA’s 2026 Team of the Year award. It’s fantastic for GMMH to be recognised nationally by fellow NHS Estates and Facilities Management professionals. This nomination is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the teams who deliver excellence day in, day out.”

This nomination builds on the team’s success at last year’s HEFMA Awards, where they won Project of the Year for the delivery of the country’s first all‑electric mental health hospital, North View.

North View has since gone on to receive an 88% overall delivery confidence rating in an independent Gateway 5 Review, as well as a national ‘Gold Standard’ certification from the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC). These achievements further demonstrate the team’s continued dedication to providing excellent environments for service users to receive care, alongside strong performance across PLACE (Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment) and NHS PAM (Premises Assurance Model) assessments.

We wish the team the very best of luck ahead of the HEFMA awards gala at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 28 May 2026.
