Appointment of Interim Executive Director of Clinical Transformation at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
Maria Nelligan, Chief Nurse and Quality Officer at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT), has been seconded to interim Executive Director of Clinical Transformation at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). Maria will also provide interim cover for our Chief Nurse post and will join the Trust on 3 April 2023.
Maria will leave her current role at LSCFT where she has worked since 2019. She has a proven track record in leading improvement in the quality of nursing and patient care, both at LSCFT and in her previous role in North Staffordshire as Executive Director of Nursing, where she led four CQC inspections, the final of which saw that Trust receive an outstanding rating.
Maria’s extensive knowledge and patient-focused leadership has been widely recognised and, in May 2021, she received the highest recognition from the Chief Nurse for England.
Neil Thwaite, Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome Maria’s appointment as interim Director of Clinical Transformation and her interim cover for our Chief Nurse post. Her extensive experience and proven track record will be hugely beneficial to GMMH as we progress on our improvement journey. The Board and I look forward to working closely with her in the coming months.”
