42nd Street

You can now access 42nd Street one-to-one support online.

Kooth
Kooth provide free online counselling and emotional wellbeing support to all young people across Greater Manchester.
Kooth is for young people aged 11-18 and offers a variety of resources, including:
- A live chat function that allows young people to contact a qualified counsellor
- Chat forums with other young people
- Crisis information
- Self-help resources
Kooth provides information and support along with treatment for children and young people with a range of mental health problems. Scheduled and drop in counselling sessions are available 365 days a year and include slots at evenings and weekends.
It has been available in Bolton, Manchester, Oldham, Trafford, Rochdale and Wigan for some time and has now been rolled out to cover Bury, Salford, Tameside and Stockport. This expansion has been brought forward in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Information for LGBT+ Young People
The following information has been collated by the 'Ireland, UK and The Islands LGBT+ Youth Work Network'. It details the support services available to all LGBT+ children and young people at the current time:
PAPYRUS
Support available to young people (under the age of 35) who are at risk of suicide. They operate ‘Hopeline UK’ to give people a safe space to talk through anything happening which could be impacting on a persons’ ability to stay safe. The phone line is for:
- children and young people under the age of 35 who are experiencing thoughts of suicide
- anyone concerned that a young person could be thinking about suicide

The Mix
Support services for the under 25’s. They aim to become the first point of contact for any young person seeking help or information on any subject wherever and whenever they need it.
They can offer guidance around:
- Sex and relationships
- Mental health
- Drink and drugs
- Housing
- Money
- Work and study
They have online discussion boards www.themix.org.uk and young people can email them through the website.

Family Rights Group
Family Rights Group is the leading specialist charity working to ensure children can live safely and thrive in their family, and that children in the care system have loving relationships they can turn to throughout life.
Family Rights Group’s Advice & Advocacy Service provides free, independent and confidential advice for parents, kinship carers, relatives and friends of children who are involved with children’s services in England or need their help. They support families to work with social workers and understand the law, their rights and options.
