Start

Start runs a time-limited service that is divided into different courses at its base in Cornbrook Enterprise Centre, Hulme, Manchester M15 4HW.  45

It is easily accessible by public transport from most areas of Manchester and usually attracts referrals for people living in the central parts of the city.

Start is passionate about the healing potential of Art.  Its courses are designed for those individuals looking to understand and learn how to boost their mental well-being using Art practise.  We centre our work on helping you identify strategies and build skills to lead more fulfilled and enriched lives.

Currently, we offer sessions in Painting & Drawing, Ceramics, Mixed Media and Photography.  Intermittently, we offer Mosaics, Creative Writing and Mindfulness courses.

All our courses encompass wellbeing themes and reflective practice using session workbooks and group discussion to help review progress and how to carry this into everyday life.

Each course, within our programme of activities, offers goal setting, regular reviews, an opportunity for Occupational Therapy if the need is identified and a move on plan following your time with us. We can work with you to connect you with local opportunities, creative and other, to support your continued wellbeing.

Start runs the ‘What’s On’ Community Meeting Central on a monthly basis from Manchester Art Gallery as an opportunity for you to find out what other activities are going on in your locality.

Start is an award winning, evidence based service and also offers a free-to-all NHS online service:  www.Start2.co.uk.
