About the course

It is acknowledged that the foundation of motivational interviewing lies more in its spirit than in its technique.

This course will introduce the foundation of, and for, MI and consider the four inter-related elements of

  • Partnership
  • Acceptance
  • Compassion and
  • Evocation

for MI conversations.

 

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to

  • outline the origins of Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • explain the Spirit of MI
  • give examples of how the Spirit of MI is evident in practice

 

Who is the course for?

​The course is designed for anybody working in a health and social care setting who may be working with clients using therapeutic or psychosocial approaches.

It may be of particular value to those who may be considering learning more about Motivational Interviewing.
