Professor J. S. Bamrah honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

We’re proud to announce that Professor J. S. Bamrah, Consultant Psychiatrist for GMMH, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s British Indian Psychiatric Association (BIPA) Conference in Birmingham (5–6 July 2025).
This recognition celebrates Professor Bamrah’s outstanding contributions to psychiatry, mental health advocacy, and leadership across the NHS and beyond. His decades of service have left a lasting impact on both patients and professionals, and this award is a fitting tribute to his dedication.
The two-day BIPA conference brought together leading mental health professionals for a programme of academic sessions and discussions. A highlight of the event was a workshop and quiz on health equalities in the NHS, led by Professor Bamrah and Dr. Shweta Mittal. Their session was praised for sparking meaningful discussion and offering practical insights into one of the most pressing issues in healthcare today.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Bamrah expressed heartfelt thanks, describing the award as a shared honour that reflects the collective efforts of colleagues working to improve mental health services and tackle inequalities in care.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Bamrah on this well-deserved recognition!
