#PassItOn about Join Dementia Research this World Alzheimer’s Month

September is World Alzheimer’s Month and this time each year, people from around the world come together to raise awareness about dementia. September 2021 marks the tenth year of this important global awareness campaign.

Rates of dementia are increasing; every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. There are currently 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, this is set to rise to 1 million by 2025 and to 2 million by 2050.

Research is the solution

Research is the only way we will solve the dementia challenge. The more people who know about research opportunities and get involved, the greater the chance we have to improve diagnosis, treatment and care – and one day find a cure.

Join Dementia Research makes it so easy to get involved in dementia research; anyone over 18 with or without a diagnosis can get involved. Research can involve many different types from online questionnaires and puzzles to focus groups, scans and drug trials.

But not enough people know about this opportunity.

Who will you #PassItOn to?

So this World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re asking you to tell people who you think would benefit from knowing about Join Dementia Research.

It might be someone living with dementia and their carer. It might be a healthcare professional, a researcher, or just a family member or friend who’s keen to help others and make a difference.
