Following a competitive recruitment process, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Arun Chidambaram to the role of Chief Medical Officer.

This week (12-18 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, and this year’s theme is ‘community’. 

Nurses throughout Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) are today (May 12) joining their colleagues across the world in celebrating the critical role they play in providing compassionate and expert care .    

Thursday 8 May 2025 will mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, celebrating the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Excellent progress is being made to maintain and improve high standards across facilities and non-clinical care settings run by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). 

Led by Kieran Jones, Peer Mentor Coordinator from Wigan Living Well Mental Health Service, a dedicated group has come together to embark on a challenging journey during Mental Health Awareness Week, beginning on 12 May 2025.

Monday 5 May – Sunday 11 May 2025 is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week. This week aims to get people talking about mental health before, during and after pregnancy. This year the theme is 'Your voice, your strength'.

At Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), we believe providing high quality mental health care for each individual person is fundamentally important. Therefore, we are excited to announce that, in August, the NHS is again launching a major survey on people’s experiences of using mental health services. If you used services in April or May 2025, you could be invited to take part and give your feedback on the quality of support you received.

Congratulations to Emma Williams, Clinical Psychologist, and Max McGinn, Registered Nurse, from our Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) who represented Junction 17 at the HOPE(S) practice celebration event on Friday, 28 February 2025, facilitated by the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to improve how we handle peoples’ complaints and would like to invite service users, carers and relatives to a consultation event to discuss our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and Complaints Policy. 

Our award-winning inpatient mental health hospital, North View, continues to draw positive attention after being shortlisted for more honours.

Following a competitive recruitment process, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Warhurst as its new Chief Finance Officer.

A striking new piece of artwork has been unveiled in the newly renovated carer’s room at the Rivington Unit, a mental health service, at the Royal Bolton Hospital, celebrating the vital role of carers and volunteers in the community.

In December 2024, the service was awarded with the Enabling Environments award from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Boxing legend Ricky Hatton MBE led a knockout celebration for the official opening of a new state-of-the-art inpatient mental health hospital for Manchester.
