On 21 June, GMMH hosted a launch event for the first cluster-commissioned tender in the North West to provide alcohol and drug community recovery services across Bolton, Salford and Trafford.

It is a historic time for mental health. As we celebrate our NHS 70^th birthday, we are looking at how far we have come over 70 years and the exciting future of mental health service delivery.

Legendary Greater Manchester musicians such as The Stone Roses, New Order and Elbow as well as contemporary artists Bugzy Malone and Pale Waves, and Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye have lent their lyrics to a Greater Manchester nurse recruitment campaign.

Andrew Arnold, the architect behind many of GMMH’s state-of-the-art buildings was awarded ‘Architect of the Year’ at the recent Design in Mental Health Awards.  Andrew, of Gilliing Dod Architects won the prestigious honour at the event which celebrates excellence in the design of mental health facilities.

Dr JS Bamrah is a senior consultant psychiatrist at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) and an Honorary Reader at the University of Manchester.

As from Monday 9 April the Bolton Rapid Assessment Interface and Discharge Team will commence undertaking assessments of Children and Young People under 16-years-old who present to the Children’s A&E department in mental health crisis, they will also undertake initial assessments on Paediatric Wards at the Royal Bolton Hospital when it has not been possible to undertake the assessment in the A&E department. 

A new prospectus to support people with their mental health and/or alcohol and drug problems, packed full of courses that start in May, has just been launched by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Recovery Academy.

After 12 years at Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (GMMH) our Chief Executive Bev Humphrey has retired.
