North View: Community litter pickers keep Crumpsall clean!

Staff and partners of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) teamed up to clean the surrounding area of North View - the Trust’s new, purpose-built mental health unit on the North Manchester General Hospital site.

The clean-up crew, made up of members from GMMH, Rider Hunt, DAY PM and Integrated Health Projects (IHP) – The Trust’s Principal Supply Chain Partner for the new North View development – collected a whopping 20 bags of litter between them.

It was the second litter pick organised by GMMH’s North View Development Project Team as part of its Social Value plan for the new development, following a successful pick earlier in February.

Cleaner Crumpsall, a community volunteer group that campaigns to keep the suburb looking spick and span, had identified litter hotspots for the team on Hallworth Road, Wellington Road and Duchess Road. Over the course of an hour, the eight-member team made light work of the waste on these roads as well as the neighbourhood around Crumpsall Park.

Once gathered, the litter was then promptly collected by Keep Manchester Tidy, an initiative that works closely with Manchester Council to deal with waste in the wider city.

A spokesperson for Cleaner Crumpsall praised the litter pickers for their efforts: “We are so impressed with your team helping to keep Crumpsall cleaner… A big thank you to all of you.”
