New appointments to GMMH’s executive leadership team

Following a competitive recruitment process, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new executive directors.

Donna Robinson has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer. Donna is currently Chief Operating Officer at Lancashire & South Cumbria (LSCFT) and has more than 30 years’ experience in mental health and addiction services, the majority of her career having been spent in senior roles at Mersey Care.

A registered mental health nurse by background, Donna will lead the operational delivery of services across GMMH, as well as the additional duties under the Deputy Chief Executive portfolio.

Phil Horner has been appointed Chief Performance Improvement and Transformation Officer, a new Board-level role bringing performance, improvement and transformation together in one portfolio. Phil is currently Chief Strategy and Performance Officer at LSCFT. He has worked in health and social care for over 30 years and is a qualified social worker and cognitive behavioural therapist.

His role will provide a clearer link between strategy and delivery, helping turn priorities into measurable outcomes for patients, carers, colleagues and our communities.

Jo Sandham has been appointed Director of Corporate Affairs. Jo is currently Company Secretary at LSCFT and has 21 years’ experience in corporate governance across the public sector.

She will lead Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Communications and Board Secretariat services, supporting transparent decision-making and ensuring that the Trust meets its statutory, regulatory and legal obligations. Jo has been fulfilling this role on an interim and part-time basis since mid-July and will now be joining the GMMH executive team full time.

Chief Executive, Chris Oliver, said:

“These appointments bring further clinical, operational, performance and governance experience to the executive team. They will support our work to become more clinically led, improve delivery and develop a culture where colleagues feel they belong and can thrive.

“Interviews for the Chief People Officer role will take place in early November and four new Clinical Care Group Director roles are being established, increasing clinical leadership and accountability across the organisation. I will keep you posted on progress of all of these roles.

“Please join me in welcoming Donna, Phil and Jo to GMMH. I look forward to working with them as we further strengthen our leadership team and maintain our focus on ensuring we consistently provide the high-quality services that our service users, carers and communities deserve.”
