GMMH picks up Estates & Facilities Team of the Year at IHEEM Awards

A graphic announcing an award win. The left side features a black triangle with bold white text reading: “Winner! CATEGORY: Estates & Facilities Team Greater Manchester MH NHS Foundation Trust – Capital, Estates and Facilities Team (CEF).” Below, in smaller text: “Recognising Excellence www.healthcare-estates.com.” The right side has a gold and white circular design with the IHEEM logo at the top, followed by “Healthcare Estates Awards 21 October 2025.” At the bottom right, text states: “The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Oxford Street, Manchester.” The overall design uses a black and gold colour scheme with geometric patterns and a spotlight effect.

Congratulations to our Capital, Estates and Facilities (CEF) directorate, who last week, were crowned Estates & Facilities Team of the Year at the annual Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) awards.

This award is given to teams working in the healthcare sector who demonstrate outstanding achievement, performance and delivery of estates and facilities services.

Representatives from our CEF team were in attendance at the awards ceremony, which took place at The Kimpton Clock Tower in Manchester on Tuesday 21 October 2025. After the event, they shared what this award means to them.

Sarah Foulds, Head of Facilities, said:

“This is such a special moment for our Capital, Estates and Facilities team. The IHEEM Healthcare Estates Awards celebrate excellence and dedication across our profession — so to receive this recognition means the world.

"I’m so proud of each and every member of the wider team but on a personal note of my Facilities team. Every single day they work with such commitment to ensure our service users, staff and visitors have safe, clean and well-maintained environments — the essential foundation for great care to thrive.”

Rob Addison, Head of Estates, said:

"In my short time as Head of the Estates team, I can 100% see the pride, commitment and drive that the team has to maintain an Estate that our service users can receive, and our staff can deliver, the best care possible. To be recognised over our peers, and at a national level is a credit to each and every one of the Estates team. Well done team!"

Marc Reed, Director of Capital Estates and Facilities, said:

“Fantastic for the team to receive the accolade at such a nationally prestigious forum, recognising the hard work and commitment of so many, delivering services across a variety of essential support functions - A truly great, inspiring and ambitious group of professionals, who continue to push boundaries and raise standards.”

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) also picked up a second honour on the night, as North View was Highly Commended in the Sustainable Achievement category, recognising the organisation, team, or project that has made the best use of innovative technology and sustainable practices to reduce the estates carbon footprint.

The award recognises North View’s environmental specifications and eco-engineering, as well as the Trust’s continued commitment to reducing our environmental impact, highlighted by Marc Reed, Director of Capital, Estates and Facilities:

“It’s great that North View continues to be recognised for its sustainable achievements, demonstrating its commitment to reducing carbon and supporting a net-zero NHS.”

This is the latest accolade for our state-of-the-art inpatient mental health hospital, which opened in March 2025, following a series of award wins earlier this year, including, Project of the Year and the North West Building Project of the Year in the North West Regional Construction Awards, Best Specialist and Dementia Care Design at the Healthcare Design Awards 2025, and Project of the Year at the annual HEFMA awards.

Both our CEF team and the North View project could be in line for further honours next month, with the Building Awards 2025, Building Better Healthcare Awards, Constructing Excellence National Awards 2025 and HSJ Awards 2025 taking place throughout November.

Congratulations to all our CEF colleagues for your hard work this year, and we hope to see your efforts further recognised at next month’s award ceremonies!
