GMMH’s Chapman Barker Unit (CBU) is delighted to learn that its proposed project, A Space to Breathe, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Blue Light Card Foundation’s inaugural Workplace Wellbeing Fund.

The fund, which offers £2,000 grants to 10 blue light teams across the UK, aims to support wellbeing where it matters most- on shift, on station, or at base. After a high volume of entries, CBU’s project has made it into the final 20 and now faces a public vote to determine the winners.

“A Space to Breathe” is a staffroom refresh initiative designed to create a calming, comfortable environment for frontline staff. The proposed improvements include new seating, warm lighting, and thoughtful wellbeing additions such as blankets, mindfulness materials, and books. The goal is to provide a welcoming space for staff to rest, recharge, and promote relaxation during demanding shifts.

CEO of the Blue Light Card Foundation, Emma Woods-Bolger, commented:
“It’s been inspiring to see applications from across the UK and from such a broad range of Blue Light community services. The ideas put forward demonstrate just how valuable this fund is for workplace wellbeing.”

The judging panel carefully considered service type, regional distribution, and activity to ensure fair representation across the Blue Light community before selecting the finalists.

Voting closes on Friday 10 October 2025, 4pm. To vote go to www.bluelightcardfoundation.org/workplace-wellbeing-fund
