buzz launches Face It Together campaign to get Manchester sewing face coverings

Following the government’s advice to wear face coverings, which will be mandatory in shops from Friday 24th July, buzz Manchester Health & Wellbeing Service are calling all Mancunians who can sew to share their skills to help the most vulnerable people in their communities.

buzz’s #FaceItTogether campaign is all about bringing communities together in true Mancunian style to help each other out. Full step by step guidance is available on how to safely sew face coverings, you can read this on the buzz website here. In this guide you will also find details for your local community buzz Neighbourhood Health Worker who will let you know the location of your nearest face coverings drop off point.

Rick Plant, Community Development Manager of buzz Manchester said:

"In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the easing of lockdown restrictions, buzz Neighbourhood Health Workers started to hear that people in Manchester wanted to make face coverings to give out to people in their neighbourhoods. buzz workers set about making sure everyone had the correct information on how to make them safely, as well as providing materials if people need them. The response from people has been great so far, but if we want enough masks for everyone in Manchester we need to find more people with the sewing skills and time to make them. So please, join us and let’s Face It Together!”

Can you, or someone you know, sew? Let’s Face It Together! For full details on how to get involved please read, download or print the guide here. To find out more about how you can help email Anjum.Adam@gmmh.nhs.uk or call 0161 271 0505 and select option 5.
