Appointment of Chief Medical Officer

Following a competitive recruitment process, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Arun Chidambaram to the role of Chief Medical Officer.
Arun will be joining GMMH in September 2025.
Arun is currently the Executive Medical Director for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist by background and will bring extensive medical leadership experience to GMMH.
Arun has previously held roles including Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Locality Medical Director at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, and Interim Medical Director and Medical Director for Operations at Mersey Care.
Arun holds two masters degrees in psychiatry and a postgraduate certificate in Healthcare Leadership. He has a wealth of clinical experience in addition to leadership expertise within a healthcare setting.
