For Professionals

As a professional you may have serious concerns about a child or young person’s emotional wellbeing and behaviour.  Alternatively you may have concerns about parents or carers who are having problems managing their children, or may feel that their own difficulties are affecting their children in some way.

The core business of CAMHS is the specialist assessment and treatment of serious mental health disturbances and associated risk in children and young people between the ages of five and 18.  The child or young person must be registered with a Bolton GP who is part of the Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group or there must be a commissioning agreement in place.

After talking with the family you may decide that CAMHS is the best service to help.  Before making a referral please check our referral criteria and details about alternative services within Bolton.
