We’re proud to announce that Professor J. S. Bamrah, Consultant Psychiatrist for GMMH, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s British Indian Psychiatric Association (BIPA) Conference in Birmingham (5–6 July 2025).

We are delighted to announce that Dr Mariana Vieira, Specialist Trainee 5 Doctor at GMMH’s community Addiction Services in Bolton, has won the Trainee Poster Competition at the Royal College of Psychiatrists Faculty of Addictions Annual Conference 2025.

We’re delighted to share that the Bolton Division’s Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Department has successfully retained its accreditation from the Electroconvulsive Therapy Accreditation Service (ECTAS).

Justin Walker, a dedicated Support, Time, and Recovery (STR) Worker for Mental Health Services in Wigan at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) has once again demonstrated his creative expertise with his latest short film, ‘The Quiet Space.’

Congratulations to Emma Williams, Clinical Psychologist, and Max McGinn, Registered Nurse, from our Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) who represented Junction 17 at the HOPE(S) practice celebration event on Friday, 28 February 2025, facilitated by the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Our award-winning inpatient mental health hospital, North View, continues to draw positive attention after being shortlisted for more honours. 

In December 2024, the service was awarded with the Enabling Environments award from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

We are thrilled to announce that our Domestic & Porter Services have been shortlisted in two categories of the prestigious National MyPorter Awards and MyCleaning Awards!

North View, our new in-patient mental health hospital, has been shortlisted a second time, having been nominated in the Best Specialist and Dementia Care design category at the new national Healthcare Design Awards.

Madelaine Ackers, Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), has won Trafford and Stockport College Group’s Higher Education ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award for the Level 5 Management course.  

We have been awarded the National Preceptorship for Nursing Quality Mark for our Preceptorship Programme here at GMMH in April 2024. 

A Greater Manchester-based dementia research team has won the first ‘Modernising Diagnostics’ award at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2023. 

A Peer Mentor Coordinator from Wigan, who is using his own journey to help others through theirs, has been awarded Runner Up in the prestigious Mental Health Awards.

The Mental Health Joint Response Vehicle (MHJRV) service – a partnership between Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) and Pennie Care NHS foundation trusts and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) – has been crowned the winner of the Collaboration Award at the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards 2023.
