Talk Understand and Listen for In-Patient Settings (TULIPS)

Despite significant guidance recommending that people receiving inpatient mental health care should have access to treatment other than medication, including evidence-based psychological therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy, psychological therapies are not routinely delivered in these settings.

The TULIPS study is an NIHR-funded programme grant led by Professors Katherine Berry and Gillian Haddock which aims to reduce this gap between guidance and practice by improving access to psychological therapies on acute mental health wards.

The project involves qualitative research alongside a large multicentre cluster randomised controlled trial.
