Step 1) Register with the Academy

In order to book your place on courses at the Recovery Academy, you must first complete the Academy Registration Form by clicking on the link below.

Academy Registration Form

The above form will open in a new window and provide us with the necessary information to get you involved with the Academy. You will be asked to agree to the Student Charter - this can be found on page 101 of the prospectus.

Please remember to make a note of your reference number after completing the form as you will need it when booking courses online.

Step 2) Book on a course

You can use the online Course Booking Form to book your place on a course at the Academy.

Please note that you will need your reference number (gained from your completed online registration form) when booking your place.

'Buddying up' with the Recovery Academy

Do you know someone who would like to attend a Recovery Academy course but feels too anxious to go to their first course on their own?

If so, you might be interested to hear about our new buddying system.

Buddies are experienced Recovery Academy volunteers who have lived experience of mental health and/or substance misuse problems. They can meet people prior to the start of their first course; get a coffee and have a chat about what it is like to attend a Recovery Academy course. They can then stay with the person for the duration of their first course and hopefully help to reduce some of their anxieties so that they are more likely to attend further courses and get the best experience they can from the Academy.

If you know someone who would benefit from our buddying system, please talk to them and encourage them to book on a course. When booking, if they mention they require a Buddy we will arrange this for them and let them know the arrangements for meeting their Buddy before the start of their course.

Step 3) Facilitate a course of your own!

If you wish to get involved with writing or facilitating courses at the Recovery Academy, contact the academy lead Claire Watson by emailing claire.watson@gmmh.nhs.uk or telephone 0161 358 1771.

We are offering training and support for all those interested in becoming Academy Tutors, which will involve confidence-building sessions, facilitation, training, and presentation skills.

All those with lived experience have the opportunity to join our Tutor Bank.

Course Cancellations

Courses and workshops can fill up fast so please take a look at the wide range of activities on offer, complete our registration and course booking form and send it to us as soon as possible.

In the event that you are unable to attend a course or workshop you have booked onto, we would really appreciate it if you would contact us and let us know, giving as much notice as possible. By doing so, you will enable us to offer your place to somebody else.

Course Booking

Please note that following the launch of the Spring/Summer 2018 prospectus we are recieving a high volume of course bookings.

We aim to respond within five working days of your booking being submitted.
