“I absolutely love the complexity of the job” | What Our Staff Say

“I absolutely love the complexity of the job”

Laura Bradley is the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team Leader. She manages the team and supervises staff members, as well as work with other partners for service development

“I have always gravitated towards working with women, and women and babies during my nursing career. I have personal experience of loss and recognise the impact it had on my own mental health

Having worked in adult mental health for twenty years, I recognised impact of mental illness within families and negative expectations society can have.”

My role

“My role involved zoning meetings, staff supervisions, audits, clinical advice and liaison with other services for service development, and much more.”

I absolutely love the complexity of the job, there are so many layers and variation.

No two days are the same, despite more than twenty years of mental health nursing, I’m learning something new every day.”

“I also enjoy sharing knowledge and working with students. We have a really great supportive team here and there are fabulous training opportunities.”

“The positives of this role absolutely outweighs the challenges. The job can be demanding, tiring and stressful. However, knowing that the team has made a positive impact on a Mum, her baby, family and future generations is amazing. The positive feedback staff get from patients and their families is really rewarding.

“The team has prevented children being placed in child protection and supported parents to learn to enjoy the time with their babies, which is priceless.”
