Greater Manchester Poverty Action (GMPA) is a coalition of organisations and individuals from across Greater Manchester who came together to continue the momentum of the Greater Manchester Poverty Commission’s (GMPC) report of February 2013. Food poverty

As part of their plans to draw together people with strong common interests under the broader heading of poverty, they formed a Food Poverty Special Interest Group, which met for the first time in September 2016. One of their first objectives was to create an on-line mapping tool for people across Greater Manchester to find their nearest emergency food provider/service.

One of the most well-known food bank services, The Trussell Trust, now has 54 distribution points in Greater Manchester but there are many more emergency food providers including faith organisations, community centres, charities and local action groups. In Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Poverty Action has mapped 136.

GMPA have used information in the public domain to create their map, but would welcome information about any foodbank service they may have missed, and are also short of some information such as hours of opening or referral methods for a few food banks.

If you have any information that could improve the food map please email: contact@gmpovertyaction.org
