Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service

About our service

Bolton’s Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service (PCPTS) provides a range of treatments in support of adults aged 16 years and over, who are experiencing common mental health problems.  These range from mild to moderate anxiety and depression, to more complex and chronic presentations, where anxiety and depression elements are apparent.

The services we can offer are evidence-based psychological interventions which include Guided Self-Help, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling. This can be done on a one to one basis, or we also offer groups.

The PCPTS is based at 33 Victoria Square, Bolton. We also work from other health centres and GP surgeries throughout the borough. Clinicians working in the service include Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and Clinical Psychologists, working in a ‘stepped care’ pathway, so that patients are directed to the professional best placed to meet their needs.  All staff work closely with related health and social care colleagues, aiming to provide seamless services.

To access the service, individuals can be referred to the PCPTS by other health and social care professionals, or if you feel that the service might be able to help you, you can contact the service directly via Single Point of Access on 01204 483101.
